Happy Chinese New Year! (Year of the Rabbit/Cat)
Today (January 22) is Chinese New Year day, and what's significant about this year (2023) is that it is the Year of the Rabbit (or Year of the Cat, depending on your culture), which is fitting for our favorite literate lagomorph, Reader Rabbit (or Tally Cat, if your culture celebrates the cat). Happy Chinese New Year to everyone out there who is celebrating it!
How to play Reader Rabbit games on 64-bit Windows
If you or your kids want to play Reader Rabbit games on 64-bit versions of Windows 7/8/10 or on Windows 11, there is a way to do it without a virtual machine or emulator. Someone did a video on it ten years ago; it uses Windows 8, but the process is the same with Windows 7/10/11.
- Insert the disc of your game into your optical disc drive. (If you're using a PC without a disc drive, you will need an external disc drive that connects via USB and a plentiful power source.)
- Open This PC in the Windows File Explorer. It can be found on the left side of the window, too.
- Right click on the disc drive icon (usually D:) and select Open/Open folder to view files.
- Look for the file SETUP32.exe, which is usually found in the INSTALL folder of the disc files, and do…
Ways To Improve This Wiki
There are certain things that can be done to improve this wiki. Here are some examples:
- Add tabs to the game infoboxes' "image" sections to show different box covers for each game. Example for source code:
- Include well-sourced references for any information that may need them.
- Remove red links until new pages can be created for them.
- Write out articles for blank pages.

Major Topics
So far this wiki has five different major topics covering the bulk of the articles. This includes:
- Games
- Characters
- Locations
- Songs
- Media
Can you think of any new major topic to add? I'm thinking of examples like:
- The Learning Company (Includes articles on TLC staff, catalogs, company events)
- Items (Includes boat parts from Math Ages 6-9, jeweled keys from Lär dig Engelska and such like)
- Events (Includes expos and places where Reader Rabbit is commercialised such as Parken Zoo)
The Items and Events could also have their own infoboxes as well.

Live Events
Recently I have created a few articles on Reader Rabbit events which took place in Sweden. It appears Reader Rabbit is very popular with the Swedish. If you know of any live events such expos, theme parks and conventions centered on Reader Rabbit, please leave a link or description in the comments. It would be an interesting study.
Theme Customisation
With over 200 pages on this wiki, it may be a good time to choose a theme to give this fandom site some style. What's needed is:
- A background for the sides (I would recommend a good picture that shows Reader, Sam, Tally and Mat on the sides).
- A logo (ideally the officially Reader Rabbit Logo)
- A good colour scheme (gentle blue would suit the headers)
If there's any agreement from the admin, hopefully the site can get a graphical upgrade and get the attention it deserves.
Favourite Song
What's your favourite Song(s) in the Reader Rabbit franchise? Most of those songs have rhyming couplets in the lyrics. The earliest Reader Rabbit game to have songs was Reader Rabbit's Interactive Reading Journey.
Old vs. New
What's your views on the older games and the newer games (both for the same age group)?
- Reader Rabbit Kindergarten vs Reader Rabbit Kindergarten: Bounce Down in Balloon Town
- Reader Rabbit 1st Grade vs Reader Rabbit 1st Grade: Capers on Cloud Nine!
- Reader Rabbit 2nd Grade vs Reader Rabbit 2nd Grade: Mis-cheese-ious Dreamship Adventures!
Give your thoughts on the earliest of games if you like.
Learning and Teaching Experience
Did any of the Reader Rabbit games help you or your child in your experience and what differences did they make in the teaching and learning of math, reading and speech?
Favorite Reader Rabbit Character
Who are your favorite Reader Rabbit characters? Mine are Sam the Lion and Reader Rabbit.
